Diagonal Lift

Required Equipment

  • Weighted object

Starting Position

  • Standing feet approximately shoulder width apart with the weighted object in front of you at about 16″

Procedure

  • This move consists of what we term a  LPPR (“lipper”) or Lift, Pivot, Place, Return.  Squat to Lift the item, Pivot then Place the item at an overhead position and then Return.

Coaching Keys

  • Be aware of not rotating your back but rather pivot your body to move/lift the item into a diagonal position.  You want to make sure you keep your back in a neutral position during this and all lifting type moves.

How It Should Feel

  • The move is a compound movement that may feel mechanical or robotic when performing the Pivot portion correctly.
