Leticia hails from Sacramento, CA. With an interest in all subjects, she switched from majoring in Biology to Child/Adolescent Development, subsequently earning an Elementary School teaching credential from San Francisco State University. With the JET Programme (Japanese Exchange and Teaching), she then spent two years teaching English in Japan to grades K-12, gaining experience working with students with special needs, navigating language barriers, and building bridges cross-culturally. She came back to the U.S. during the 2008 recession and freezes on teacher hires, but was fortunate to discover Occupational Therapy while taking care of her grandmother with Lewy-Body dementia, learning the unique needs of adults, especially seniors. She earned her MA in Occupational Therapy at the University of Washington in 2015. After completing her first hospital position in Bakersfield, CA, she transitioned to the outpatient clinic setting in Lodi, CA where she completed two AOTA approved Hand Therapy Fellowships during the Covid-19 era. She became a CHT in 2024. She feels blessed to have experienced the continuity of care from the ED/ICU to outpatient clinic setting and to have had exceptional mentorship along the way.
