Andrew Grissom

Clinic Director-PT, DPT, TPI

Dr. C. Andrew Grissom was raised in North Carolina, growing up in Charlotte and attending a private high school located in Candler. He attended Southern Adventist University in Collegedale, TN for his undergraduate degree, where he realized his passion for helping others while shadowing a Physical Therapist who was tending to a close family friends daughter, who had recently been adopted from China and diagnosed with cerebral palsy. After completing his undergraduate degree in the Pre-Physical Therapy program in 2014, Andrew and his wife Rebecca moved to Loma Linda, California where he completed his Doctorate in Physical Therapy at Loma Linda University in 2017. While living in Loma Linda, Andrew helped build a health clinic called Street Medicine designed to supply health care to underserved communities in southern California and was heavily involved in a number of volunteer opportunities through the local children’s hospital. Andrew is a certified Titleist Performance Institute provider who utilizes the TPI movement screen to identify physical limitations which could increase someone’s risk for injury or limit their performance on the golf course. Andrew is an avid golfer, formally coaching a high school golf team, who also has a passion for helping clients return to playing golf following injury.

When Andrew is not in the clinic, he enjoys playing all types of sports, favoring golf and basketball, taking hikes/exploring Asheville with his dog and wife and playing guitar.

PT, DPT

Alina graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science from West Chester University in 2016. She went on to receive her Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree from Neumann University in 2020. During her studies at Neumann she researched hospital acquired deconditioning and the effects of immobilization on the geriatric population. During graduate school Alina ran her first full marathon and since then has run many half marathons. Alina has an interest in helping individuals maintain their physical fitness level despite injuries. While training for races Alina came across many women with pelvic health dysfunction who weren’t given much education or treatment for their impairments. Because of this, she decided to complete some continuing education with Institute of Clinical Excellence on pelvic floor and became an ICE certified pelvic floor specialist with the goal of helping women stay healthy and fit throughout their lifespan.

I have been working with Andrew Grissom for five months for help with my back, leg, and foot. This is the first experience with physical therapy that has actually been a positive experience, and I have had numerous previous therapists for a variety of issues. Dr. Grissom (Andrew) always treated me with kindness and compassion but pushed me to do the necessary work for rehabilitation. He was flexible and creative in devising the different exercises needed to hasten my improvement, and focused on exercises that I could do at home. Unlike so many therapists who try to force patients past endurance, Andrew focuses on flexibility and support. Never once did I feel belittled or humiliated as in other PT settings, but was always encouraged and supported. His positive attitude made my recovery easier and more thorough. I always left my sessions feeling better and hopeful.

I had pain in my arm and chronic back pain. Jonathan Frakes is my
therapist. Within 2 days my arm pain was gone. Jonathan is working
on my back now. He is the best therapist I've had (after different
surgeries I've had many). He works so hard to help me and makes
me work hard too. If you need therapy Movement for Life is a
wonderful, pleasant place to go. thanks Jonathan
